Thirty one-year-old Benjamin Uzoka has been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for stealing a PHCN meter.
Police said the crime was committed on May 31, 2014 when the defendant broke into the house of one Dr. Charles Agom, on Morogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, in the Ojo Local Government Area and made away with the PHCN meter.
The Investigating Police Officer said the offence contravened sections 285 and 404 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
The defendant was arraigned on two counts of felony and theft and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Part of the charges reads; “That you, Benjamin Uzoka, on May 31, 2014, at about 6.30am on Morogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, in the Ojo Magisterial District, did unlawfully enter into the compound of one Dr. Charles Agomu with intent to commit felony to wit; stealing, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 404 of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011”.
The Magistrate, T.O. Shomade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N30, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
The matter was subsequently adjourned till July 7.
