A member of the National Youth Service Corps, Muibi Abdulrasaq, was killed on Saturday following an accident involving a tanker, a motorcycle and a wheelbarrow.
nnews.punch correspondent gathered on Sunday that the deceased and another corps member were passengers of a commercial motorcyclist and were returning from a market in the Ilesha-Baruba community of Kwara State when the accident occurred.
It was learnt that the motorcycle collided with the wheelbarrow while overtaking the tanker which was said to be loaded with petrol.The tanker was said to be coming from Saki, Oyo State.
An eyewitness told PUNCH Metro that Abdulrasaq, who was identified as a 2013 batch C corps member, an indigene of Kwara State and a graduate of Accounting from the Kwara State Polytechnic, fell from the motorcycle and landed on the path of the tanker’s tyre. He was said to have died on the spot.
The source added that the motorcyclist and the other corps member fell into a nearby gutter and sustained injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara Police Command, Mr Ajayi Okansanmi, confirmed the accident. He added that the tanker driver was being interrogated by the police.
