The police in Delta State have recovered a Mercedes Benz car owned by a traditional ruler abandoned by fleeing suspected armed robbers in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ms. Celestina Kalu, told reporters on Monday in Asaba that the ownership of the car was traced to one Igwe Ifeanyichukwu, the traditional ruler of Ase Kingdom in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
But the traditional ruler has denied knowing anything about the use of his car for robbery.
According to the police spokesperson, the monarch said the vehicle had developed a fault on his way to Ase from Asaba and he left the vehicle with an aide, one Ogero Imono, to get a mechanic to fix it while he sent for a spare car in which he continued his journey.
The said Ogero Imono, the police further said, decided to use it along with other people for other purposes.
Efforts to arrest Imono by detectives failed as he was said to have moved from his home at Iyede Street, Oleh when the police called tthere. Source: punch news
