An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the remand of a carpenter, Lekan Oluwole, over the alleged murder of one Wasiu Omolabi.
Oluwole, 19, allegedly shot Omolabi with a locally-made gun.
The Magistrate, Mr F.J. Adefioye ordered that Oluwole should be kept in the Ikoyi Prisons, pending an advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
The accused is facing three counts bordering on conspiracy, attempted killing and unlawful killing.
The court refused to take the pleas of the accused.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl.Onaiwu Iyobosa, told the court that the crime was committed on April 7 at about 7.20 p.m. at Igbobi in Jibowu, Lagos.
He said the accused also fought one Solomon, an eyewitness, who tried to settle the fight.
Iyobosa said that the offences contravened Sections 221, 228 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 221 provides that subject to the provisions of any other law, a person who commits murder shall be sentenced to death.
